Richard Shane Palmer, MD is the medical director of Vein and Laser of Virginia, a general surgery practice specializing in minimally invasive treatment of varicose vein disease, laser and light therapy skin rejuvenation, and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. Dr. Palmer was trained in advanced peripheral vascular procedures at Yale University affiliated Waterbury Hospital in Connecticut and took additional training in minimally invasive vein treatment at the Miami Vein Center, American College of Phlebology instructional conferences, and at Carolina Vein and Laser Specialists, studying under Dr. Michael P. Krusch. In May 2008, Dr. Palmer completed a rigorous selection process to become board certified in vein treatment by the American Board of Phlebology, making him one of only seven in Virginia to receive this distinction.
In addition, Dr. Palmer trained in Beverly Hills, CA with Dr. Sam Assassa of the American Association of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery where he learned advanced techniques in BOTOX® and dermal filler applications. Dr. Palmer trained in laser lipolysis and tumescent liposuction with Dr. Radha Syed in New York City and with Drs. Marco A. Pelosi II & III of the International Society of Cosmetogynecology.
